Over the weekend, Xbox Live went through a period of downtime and technical issues the likes of which had not been seen since last year’s holidays. Was the downtime due to the high volume of online gamers crowding up Gears of War 2 or Call of Duty: World at War, or was it perhaps related to the upcoming release of the New Xbox Experience, slated for Wednesday, the 19th?
We may never know. Though Major Nelson, Xbox Live Director of Programming, covered the downtime in an extensively updated post and on his Twitter feed, the actual cause of the downtime was never addressed. Whatever the cause, aside from this morning’s scheduled downtime for NXE prep, everything appears to have returned to full functionality and hopefully will remain so through the NXE release. If you continue to have issues, however, keep an eye on the official Xbox Live Status page for further info.
The downtime, though frustrating, may have been a godsend for me, personally. NBA Live’s failure to update its Dynamic DNA data undoubtedly led to my unprecedented 3-game absolute slaughter of a winning streak against my boyfriend. I’d like to take this moment to say In Your Face, Ben.

I got into the NXE preview this weekend, and I ran into some trouble with Xbox Live connectivity after it downloaded. Luckily for me, I got Live back after resetting my router/modem.
(I then had problems when logging on to my profile - turns out NXE has problems if your porfile is loaded on a memory unit. Moving it to the HDD fixed that problem)

“porfile”
You know, this is why the comments really need a preview function.

@Nael M. Interesting. I wonder what percentage of NXE previewers had similar issues.
