Between the Metal Gear Solid 4 wrap party and Microsoft’s Spring Showcase, there’s plenty of good video to show off this week. Come partake in the cream of the crop.
First up: Ninja Gaiden II. Ryu Hayabusa has been enduring Groundhog Day syndrome for nearly three years now, and so it’s good to finally see him get back to business. His sword may be sharp enough, but there’s only so many hundreds of thousands of fiends one can decapitate before the mind begins to dull…
But it was Metal Gear Solid 4 that really blew my mind today.
Last week, I called this column Teaser Trailer Tuesday, but I’m done teasing — Assassin’s Solid is real. It occurs to me that even though Kojima has always thrown gamers for a loop when it comes to his blasted, awe-inspiring stealth games, perhaps this time he figured the best way to confuse us is to just shoot straight from the hip. I’m done questioning and ridiculing… all that’s left is to sit back and enjoy the show, and imagine what the game’s sequel might look like.
Here’s the brand-new theatrical trailer — emphasis on the theatrical. I kept waiting for Deep Voice Guy to say “IN A WORLD” but he just didn’t deliver. For shame.
But this was satisfying enough that I didn’t care:
Seriously, the drink’s in the game. Speaking of the game, if you’d like to see what it actually looks like, GameVideos has spoiled the first 10 minutes right here:
But if you haven’t had enough of Kojima’s Hollywood theatrics yet, just wait a few years — a Metal Gear Solid movie is still on the table, and Kojima is producing.
