Despite his reported medical leave of absence earlier today, THQ CFO Colin Slade was present today at the company's Q2 earnings release conference call, where he announced that the delay of two titles to 2010 -- Red Faction: Guerilla and Darksiders: Wrath of War -- were responsible for over $125 million in reduced financial guidance for FY09.
Translation: THQ was counting on these games... but we won't see them, and they won't see the cash, as soon as they had hoped.
What happened? Well, according to CEO Brian Farrell, Red Faction just needs "an additional 8-10 weeks to polish," and we'll be seeing it in the first quarter of 2010... which for financially challenged individuals like myself means somewhere in between March 31st and June 30th, 2009.
Farrell had no explanation for the Darksiders delay to Q2 2010 (June 30-September 30, 2009), but instead spun the news as positive. "Obviously with these strong releases in the first two quarters, we have much more visibility in fiscal 2010," he said.
UFC 2009 Undisputed is still undisputed to arrive in Spring of 2009 -- Farrell reaffirmed that it is a Q1 2010 release.
