According to GamePolitics, there is another notable departure from the ESA: id Software. Given that id Software was already planning not to attend E3, this development seemed inevitable. That brings the number the number of members in the ESA to 24 from a pre-exodus number of 28. GamePolitics tried to solicit comment from the ESA, but they hadn’t responded by the time of publication:
GamePolitics has confirmed through a representative that id, best known for its first-person shooter franchises DOOM and Quake, is no longer a member.
The ESA did not respond to our inquiries, but might be expected to issue a late Friday afternoon press release as it did when it acknowledged LucasArts’ recent exit. We also note that id no longer appears on the member section of the ESA website.
I’m sure we’ll hear more about this in an official press release or two later in the day.
