Miyamoto Contemplates New Controllers, Own Retirement

At the tail end of a new interview with Edge which dealt primarily with Wii Music (but somehow failed to ask about the game’s lackluster sales), Nintendo’s legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto has admitted that the Wiimote-Nunchuk combo is not the be-all, end-all of gaming controllers. In fact, he hints that Nintendo may be considering new possibilities [...]

The rumors have been swirling about for quite a while now, and while preliminary confirmations had already been spotted by clever investigators over at Joystiq, MTV hosted a joint conference call with Apple Corps, Ltd. to simultaneously confirm and dash our hopes. Officially announcing one of the most impressive “gets” in the music-game licensing war, [...]

Review: How the Nerf Switch Shot EX-3 is (Nearly) Wii’s Best Blaster — Win One Inside!

If you’re over the age of twelve, I’m willing to bet that the Nerf Switch Shot EX-3 isn’t exactly on top of your holiday wish list. This might have something to do with the fact that it is made of brightly colored plastic… the fact that it is used to launch harmless foam darts through [...]

Review: Rock Band 2 (360)

But that's all right with us -- We love Rock Band 1.

Wii’d for Speed — EA’s Tim Fields Talks Wiimotes and Wheels in Need for Speed: Undercover

History has not been kind to the Need for Speed series on Wii. A quick glance at Metacritic can tell you that the first two attempts to build a motion-controlled racer resulted in games that were solidly average at best. So why has Logitech, who builds force feedback wheels for the likes of racing icon Gran Turismo, decided to stake a $100 peripheral entirely on the performance of game No.3? Perhaps because there's more under the hood of EA's new Wii racer than you might expect.

Sony Reveals PSP-3000, 160GB PS3, Bluetooth Wireless Keypad

Hardware announcements and price cuts are big news in this business, but when E3 2008 revealed that both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 were simply getting larger hard drives, some were understandably disappointed. Today, at the Leipzig Games Convention, Sony unveiled considerably more; but once again, you’d be ill-advised to expect more than a hardware [...]
