Finally — the ability to simulate the steel drum in the comfort of one’s own home! Nintendo has issued a release date for Wii Music, announcing to the world that October 20th, 2008 is the day we may all become motion-controlled maestros. Nintendo’s unique brand of approachability and advanced flailing-based technology will give players over [...]

Even though we knew full well that PS3 is the lead development platform for dystopian parkour adventure Mirror’s Edge, and that only on PS3 would we be able to utilize SIXAXIS motion control to keep protagonist Faith balanced, it only took a few minutes for the PC version’s superior control scheme (and surprisingly low system [...]

History has not been kind to the Need for Speed series on Wii. A quick glance at Metacritic can tell you that the first two attempts to build a motion-controlled racer resulted in games that were solidly average at best. So why has Logitech, who builds force feedback wheels for the likes of racing icon Gran Turismo, decided to stake a $100 peripheral entirely on the performance of game No.3? Perhaps because there's more under the hood of EA's new Wii racer than you might expect.

Not so long ago, Jesse and I put on our thinking caps, pulled out our BFGs and assumed our best fake lawyer poses — before engaging in a heated debate over whether the technology-laden Apple iPhone would give the incumbent Nintendo DS and Sony PSP a run for their money. In that duel, I represented [...]

It’s tiny. It’s brilliant. It single-handedly turns the Wiimote from a gimmicky controller into a truly 3D motion-sensing tool. And should it receive proper developer support, I believe that the Wii MotionPlus will finally bring gamers the Revolution they promised, four years ago. Think of it. The brain of a dead man waiting to live again in a body I made with my own hands! Now I know what it feels like to be God! Okay, so, maybe Monster Lab isn’t quite so fraught with moral dilemmas as your standard mad science story. We can still have a [...]

GameCyte had its fair share of game demos this morning, but I personally saw nothing quite as intriguing as the Wii MotionPlus, the tiny gyroscope-based attachment that will ship with Wii Sports Resort this Spring. I’d long been dissatisfied with the Wiimote control scheme, due to the glaring disconnect between player input and on-screen action, [...]

Witness our amateur cinematography! As promised, we have the conclusion of the Wii Music demo, featuring Shigeru Miyamoto and pals as they motion-control their way through the Super Mario Bros. theme. Apologies for the occasional bouts of blurriness — it’s not your eyes, we promise. Click ahead to witness the waggle!

Every E3 press conference finishes off with a big, knock-em-dead final announcement, intended to leave the crowd cheering and come away remembering your company fondly. Nintendo had a couple of interesting announcements this year at their press briefing, but their ace-in-the-hole wasn’t an unannounced title — instead, Shigeru Miyamoto made an appearance to give the [...]
