It's been nearly three months since DICE took "Battlefield Heroes" back to the drawing board. But the wait is nearly over. Tomorrow, select fans of EA's free-to-play FPS will be let back into the fold in a new closed beta.

‘Battlefield 1943′ to be ‘Download-Only’

Following some confusion over last week's press release, DICE designer Gustav Halling confirmed in a post to his blog that "Battlefied 1943" will be released as a "download-only" game over the Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Network and as yet undisclosed digital distribution services for PCs. Set during WWII, "Battlefied 1943" will offer "endless hours of 24 [...]

“Mirror’s Edge” Review (PC)

Yesterday evening, I fired up a freshly-purchased copy of "Mirror's Edge" for the very first time. I sat down in a comfortable chair, cranked up the speakers, and spent the rest of my waking hours guiding Faith -- a covert rooftop messenger trafficking documents through a sprawling anti-utopian city -- on a personal quest to [...]

January Brings Mirror’s Edge PC — Abstract DLC — Exclusive Map on PS3

Despite tremendous hype -- or rather, because of it -- first-person free running adventure Mirror's Edge didn't quite live up to gamer's lofty expectations. But as we noted in our review, the "play it our way or else" story mode is partially made up for by the game's excellent Time Trials. This fact has not been [...]

The PhysX of Faith On Display in Mirror’s Edge PC Trailer

If you've had the chance to peruse our Mirror's Edge review, you'll know that our feelings about the hotly-anticipated title were rather mixed -- primarily because the freedom of choice supposedly afforded protagonist Faith was (save in the game's excellent Time Trial mode) nowhere to be found. But as far as Mirror's Edge trailers are concerned, [...]

Review: Mirror’s Edge (PS3)

When perusing news and reviews of Mirror's Edge, one very often sees the phrase "Leap of Faith" invoked. It's an easy joke to make, of course: The game's protagonist is the slender, athletic Faith, and as the star of EA's new parkour-based rooftop romp, she frequently is called upon to make improbable jumps -- hence [...]

Battlefield Heroes Closed Beta Is Really, Really Closed — Game Delayed to 2009

At the EA Studio Showcase in mid-August, DICE producer Ben Cousins presented a chart to attending press that depicted the full release schedule for Battlefield Heroes as a series of concentric circles. Starting with a close-knit closed beta, Cousins explained that EA's first Free-2-Play shooter was currently expanding to include friends, family and journalists like [...]

DICE Has Faith in Mirror’s Edge IP; 2+ Sequels Already Planned

So far, my every encounter with beautiful first-person parkour adventure Mirror's Edge has left me begging for just a little bit more. Just a peek beyond that first red door that ended the E3 demo. Just a glimpse at what lies at the bottom of the iridescent industrial waterfall above. Just a few seconds more [...]

Preview: Mirror’s Edge Time Trial Mode

If you haven't read our Mirror's Edge hands-on preview from E3, you may want to start there. Since July, the main attractions of EA's free running, death-defying, utopian/dystopian cityscape have not changed. As the title draws close to its November launch, the developers over at DICE have certainly tightened up the graphics, eliminating any disclaimers [...]
