People familiar with Paul W.S. Anderson’s work usually fall into one of two camps: those who think he’s the best of the game-to-movie directors, and those who think he’s the best of the game-to-movie directors and that is a very, very sad thing.
Speaking to IGN about the Castlevania movie (spoiler: it's in pre-production limbo without any sign of exiting), Anderson touched upon his other upcoming game-to-movie entry, Spy Hunter starring the always-awesome-but-probably-not-in-this Rock. So what did he tell them? "There was a script that came in that I was not very enthusiastic about so I'm not attached to that anymore."
For those who haven’t been following the movie which is already years past its original expected release date (2005), Paul W.S. Anderson was the second director helming the project after John Woo backed out in 2005. When a second director/producer removes himself from a film that was supposed to come out almost four years ago and is still in pre-production… Ding, dong, the witch is dead, folks. Until Hollywood runs out of IPs and ideas and someone else buys the rights to make a movie based on the franchise, at least.
