Mazel Tov! It’s a subsidiary! Rockstar Games has bought out Mad Doc Software, the Massachusetts-based developer whose recent work has included assisting Rockstar with the 360 version of Bully: Scholarship Edition. Mad Doc will join the fold under the new Rockstar New England studio.
The newly-christened studio has not announced any new projects, but Mad Doc has contributed development to several prominent titles, and their founder’s experience in AI technology is taught at MIT.
Having an MIT professor call the opportunity to work with your games a “uniquely compelling” opportunity is a pretty big ego boost, which we hope tides Rockstar over in the event that EA buys Take Two, who would in turn own Rockstar, which now owns Mad Doc. Oh my god–EA is trying to buy Mad Doc! Is there no stopping them?!
