Oh, Take-Two Interactive. Is there anyone who won’t sue you? Next Generation has tracked down the latest in the publisher’s litigation woes, this one from an inmate in a South Carolina Prison. Interestingly, the suit also names Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games as a defendant, and, in perhaps a courtroom first, names the game itself.
Jonathan Lee Riches, an intimidating plaintiff whose track record includes failed lawsuits against Martha Stewart, Steve Jobs, and recently Michael Vick, has some perfectly valid complaints. He’s filing a “restraining order” against Grand Theft Auto, which I guess means the software has to stay 100 yards away from him, claiming the game and the monsters who produced it contributed to him committing identity theft, and that other inmates who play the game will very likely be stealing his gold cross.
Be reasonable, Take-Two, the man needs that to ward off vampires. They’ve been out to get him ever since he tried to sue them.
