Like tabletop war games? Like playing them on your PC? Reading this on April 15th, 2008? Good.
Matrix Games feels your pain, taxpayers. To commemorate this year’s regularly-scheduled IRS ransom demand, the strategy game publisher is releasing The War Engine for free, for one day only. The game is a turn-based strategy simulator and editor, allowing players to customize their armies with their own artwork and stats.
As a tabletop geek, I wholeheartedly approve of this. This somehow lacks the majesty of a scale model battlefield with hand-painted miniatures and model railroad scenery, but it’s also free. You could do worse with your tax day. You can download War Engine at Gamer’s Hell, Strategy Informer, Fan Gaming, or Atomic Gamer.
