Rumor

Game and movie-loving segments of the internets are exploding right now with, among other rumors, the notion that a real descendant of the Persian Empire’s Zand dynasty might be cast in the titular role in Jerry Bruckheimer’s upcoming Prince of Persia movie.

It all traces back to a survey, discovered by IESB.net, where not only was David K. Zandi apparently resoundingly approved by a tremendous sample (15 million persons worldwide, with 2 million voting in a seperate study conducted in the US) but where the questions also seemed worded to imply that Zandi was already the primary casting choice and that this study was merely for confirmation’s sake.

Joystiq recommends you have a look at his IMDB profile, which not only reveals his background as a model, champion equestrian and sword fighter, but also a veritable wealth of personal quotes becoming the Prince:

In this world, there are many forms of deception, but perhaps the greatest of them all, is self-deception.

The most significant legacy you can leave behind is not on a resume or in a bank account - it is in your character, in a life with loyalty, integrity and truth.

Never grow overconfident. Never grow arrogant… for then you will grow careless and your enemies will exploit your weakness.

Who at the best knows in the end the triumphs of high achievements and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.

I think luck is the sense to recognize an opportunity and the ability to take advantage of it… the man who can smile at his breaks and grab his chances gets on.

I have nothing to fear, for I have nothing to hide. A man who lives without secrets, is one who lives in peace.

I do not think of what is lost, only what is yet to be gained.

At the end of the day… regardless of what you’ve accomplished… it is only the good deeds that truly matter. How many have you aided, how many lives have you effected.

Assuming, of course, that he can also sprint along vertical walls, over pits filled with deadly spikes, I for one applaud his selection.
