Over at retro gaming website Racketboy, they’ve rounded up a list of the rarest and most expensive games available for the original Sony PlayStation. Dust off your slightly translucent, black-backed discs and see what your collection is worth.
Though most of Racketboy’s findings fall in line with expectations (Valkyrie Profile, Ogre Battle) the rarity of others is surprising. Who knew a black-label copy of Final Fantasy VII could fetch as much as $400? Bust-A-Groove 2 for upwards of $60? And have you even heard of Harmful Park?
Hell, my girlfriend has a copy of Dance Dance Revolution Disney Mix lying around. Come on Ebay, Minnie needs a new pair of shoes…
But the real utility of lists like these is for the ladies and gentlemen who run PlayStation Store. Virtual Console and Xbox Live Arcade may not be able to handle CD-ROM sized games, but if Sony’s PS3/PSP combo has got anything going for it, it’s the ability to bring these rarities to a fresh audience. Sure, we appreciated Symphony of the Night and Wild Arms; but what we’re really aching for is some good ol’ Lunar.
