Ubisoft is being an incredible tease. With no official announcement of any kind, they’ve now not only filed for the “Prince of Persia Prodigy” trademark, but also ‘opened’ a brand-new teaser site for the game on the very same day — a teaser that frustrates dedicated fans like myself with the complete lack of available information.
Discovered by resourceful NeoGAF member Zapages, the website prominantly displays a Flash video, where some beautiful, lightning blue symbols which are slowly engulfed by a wave of what might be oil, or some very dark blood — and not much else.
But with a little detective work, and a little digging through the HTML source code, the community has managed to find a few interesting tidbits:
1.) While not visible from the main page, the website describes itself to search engines as follows:
The official site of Prince of Persia, the exciting action–adventure game series by Ubisoft, and the best destination for news and information on the game. Stay posted.
2.) Ubisoft certainly has a good feeling about this one: their keywords include, sequentially, “best,” “action,” “adventure,” “game,” and “ever.”
3.) Ben Mattes, producer on The Two Thrones and Wii port Rival Swords, seems to be returning for this installment — his name is in the keywords as well. Likewise, Ubisoft Montreal is almost certainly where the game is being produced.
4.) More keywords: “Ubidays” is the name of Ubisoft’s Paris press event at the Louvre, held this May 28-29.
5.) Our final keyword revelation: the game’s themes may include “corruption” and “decay.”
6.) NeoGAF seems to have performed a digital C-section of sorts: the source pegs the website’s creation date a full six days from now — April 28th, 2008. Should we expect an official announcement then?
One final note: Apparently, the game’s far enough along that it’s been rated in the UK. PEGI gives it a 12+.
