Dammit, dammit, dammit, dammit! In a disheartening conversation with Shacknews, Valve’s Doug Lombardi has announced that our favorite team-oriented FPS won’t be seeing any more major updates until 2009. Team Fortress 2 won’t get any new weapons, no class upgrades or new achievements, no gameplay modes, nada. Seems the majority of the TF2 team have been busy working on Left 4 Dead, our other favorite team-oriented FPS. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been eager for L4D to come out since it scared the life out of me back at E3, but I was rather hoping for a Spy or Engineer update in the next few weeks. Mostly because I suck at playing Spy and Engineer, and I was hoping to learn the ropes while blending in with a horde of other inexperienced Spies and Engies.
Shacknews wrote:
“Well, it won’t be this year,” said Lombardi when asked about the next update. “But we’re going to keep evolving TF2. Once Left 4 Dead wraps, you’ll hear us clamoring more about [the next TF2 update].”
Sigh. Fair enough. Finish up work on your awesome new game and then get back to your awesome old game, if you must. Left 4 Dead is currently available for pre-order through Steam, giving you 10% off the full price, and is due out on November 18th.
