New Japanese Nintendo Titles Revealed

News

Leaked by the enterprising minds at NeoGAF and subsequently confirmed by CVG, Nintendo of Japan has revealed six new titles for the Wii and DS, all scheduled for releases in July and August. The list includes two Wii titles: A new Fatal Frame game, co-directed by the inimitable Suda 51, and an as-yet undetailed title called Wario Land Shake. Filling out the remainder of the list are games for the DS: Densetsu no Stafi, Rhythm Tengoku Gold, Fire Emblem, and Inazuma Eleven.

Most of these titles are based around existing IP, and I must admit to never having played their predecessors — I’m especially disappointed in myself for never having tried a Fatal Frame or Fire Emblem title. There is one notable exception, however: An imported copy of Rhythm Tengoku currently occupies the GBA slot in my DS, where it still sees regular use. Rhythm mini-games by the WarioWare developers? Yes, please! I hope the new iteration is slightly easier to import than this one. Granted, I picked it up several years after its release, but it was a harrowing ordeal, involving an after-dark trek on foot through what appeared to be Japanese farmland, with only the shinkansen track overhead to indicate I was even still in civilization. Long story.
