Remember Castle Crashers? Yeah, I had one of those “Oh yeah! That game!” moments, too. Months ago, its developers spoke with several people about the buggy, game-breaking glitches present in the retail release, such as game save losses and connectivity issues. Their response? A much-needed patch was nearly done, and just had to pass Microsoft certification.
I don’t know what certification entails, but here we are more than two months later, and still no patch for Castle Crashers. Xbox 360 Fanboy realized that, and sent a question to The Behemoth asking what the hell was going on. Their response this time?
We're working with Microsoft to get the title update out as quickly as we can. Sadly, we can't get into details about the certification process, but we've resolved the game's issues with data loss and networking in addition to other bugs. We can't really comment on the release yet as we're not allowed to talk about it because of Microsoft, but the update's release is definitely reaching the end of the process.
In other words, we’re at the exact same spot we were months ago, except we’re reaching the end of the process this time. I have no idea how long it will take to reach this fabled end, but I can honestly say that if it isn’t before Christmas, there’s no way I’m going to find the time (or will) to download the patch and give CC another go, no matter how brilliant and fun my limited experiences (before encountering the whole data loss thing) were.
At this point, the only thing that can save the game in my eyes will be a sudden surprise patch released in the next couple of days, or a slightly later sudden surprise patch and some free DLC.
