News

Having a hard time choosing between Guitar Hero and Rock Band? Good news!

Konami, who arguably got everyone started on tiny-plastic-guitar mania to begin with, is bringing Rock Revolution to home consoles, a third entry in the simulated rock genre, sporting mechanics that will be familiar to anybody who’s played a rhythm game in the last few years. Shacknews has the skinny from Konami’s Gamers Day, where Rock Revolution was announced for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and DS.

For the music game connoisseur, here are the main reasons Rock Revolution is a pale imitation of/way better than Rock Band and Guitar Hero. For starters, Konami’s game will have none of your fancy-pants original recordings – covers only. Further, Rock Revolution will allow players to create their own songs in “Jam Mode,” the details of which are still scarce. And never mind GH4’s six-input drum pad — Rock Revolution is raising the bar to seven inputs (six pads and a bass pedal), though the guitar is expected to have the standard five-button design. Konami is hoping that cross-compatibility will be possible, which should comfort those of us who already have like five freaking guitars already.

Rock Revolution is scheduled for October.
