High Moon Studios, Radical Entertainment Weather Activision Blizzard

News

Apparently, when Activision Publishing said they were “realigning staff” at High Moon Studios and Radical Entertainment, they didn’t necessarily mean it as a euphemism. In Activision’s Q1 conference call yesterday afternoon, Publishing CEO Mike Griffith announced that both Radical and High Moon will be added to the company’s development studio line-up:

In terms of studios, our key strategy is to drive our independent model, as a long-term competitive model. And now, we’re adding two Vivendi Games studios to our model: High Moon, the studio behind the Bourne game, and Radical, the developers of Crash Bandicoot and Prototype.

Given that Activision announced that both Crash and Prototype would survive the merger, Radical’s future still looked rather bright, but we had feared the worst for High Moon following Acti-Blizz’s loss of the Bourne license.

We’ve contacted both High Moon and Radical for further information, and hope to hear back from representatives soon.

In related news, while Ghostbusters is alive and well at Activision Blizzard (though delayed until 2009), Tim Schaefer’s Brutal Legend is reportedly looking for a new publishing arrangement.

Update: According to Gamasutra, High Moon may not have escaped entirely unscathed — reports indicate that the studio may have lost as many as 60 employees.
