News

Jim rides again! Interplay has announced that they will be working together with Doug TenNapel, creator of Earthworm Jim, to bring the spineless hero back into our hearts. Not literally, mind you, heartworms are bad news. But, Jim will be bringing his power suit and unpredictable humor to a new video game, an animated series, and a feature film. If there’s a screen out there, Earthworm Jim is going to be on it.

Our recent spate of EWJ news should clue you in to how I feel about the character and his games, so you’ll pardon me if I cheer aloud at this news. To those of you feeling skeptical about the non-interactive media upon which Jim will be appearing, let me remind you that an EWJ cartoon was already tried once, back in the mid-90s, and it was fantastic. Honestly, they could just re-air that thing and call it new, and I’d be happy. As for the movie, well, you pretty much know it’s going to be animated. Despite TenNapel’s awesome work with live-action, his animation and artwork are where he shines, and let’s face it — Jim’s universe isn’t exactly full of characters where you could have a human actor.

Incidentally, if the link in the above paragraph is your first taste of Sockbaby, you’re welcome.
