I know how terribly unprofessional it is of me to gush to such a degree as this, but you’ll have to forgive me; my enthusiasm cannot be contained. We’ve just caught the Ubidays live presentation via webcast, and at its conclusion, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot came out and premiered a new trailer for “the new Michel Ancel project.” The legends were true. The heavens parted, the trailer unfurled, and I am overjoyed to report that Jade and Pey’j are back. There hasn’t been an official release or fact sheet or anything, but I don’t care. To me, this is all the confirmation I needed. Beyond Good & Evil 2 is on the way!
Guillemot introduced the trailer as vaguely as he could: “Now, there’s one more thing which is very important. That’s creativity, and you saw that all the way during this show, and I’m proud today to finish this presentation, to show you the trailer of the next Michel Ancel product done also with the Ubisoft Montpelier team. This trailer is done [our new] engine, so you will see what the future of games is. Thank you very much for coming, and here is the trailer.” When he mentioned Ancel, my heart skipped a beat, and I waited for my hopes to be confirmed.
The trailer began with a title in the unmistakable BG&E font, reading simply, “THE PIG.” From there, we saw a parched desert background, a lone blacktopped road running through the wasteland. Broken down by its side was what appeared to be a hover-car, and atop its hood perched a slender figure, hidden in the shadow of an umbrella. Laying next to the car was a very, very familiar wrench, and finally, lounging under a mechanics’ magazine behind the vehicle, was none other than Uncle Pey’j. I’m going to assume it was Jade under the umbrella; no sign yet of what effects the twist ending from BG&E has had on the lovable sus sapiens. I have more theories, but… well, hell, watch for yourself!
Ubisoft: To whom do I send the flowers, candy, and however much the game will cost?
