Christmas has come and gone, and with the release of the new Prince of Persia, 2008's flood of quality big-name titles has finally subsided. But even if you've conquered 2008 and every game it has to offer, there's still ongoing challenge to be found in online multiplayer -- and in the many DLC packs (PoP, GTA IV, Fallout 3, Midnight Club) publishers have confirmed for early next year.
Left 4 Dead has both -- and in an interview with Kotaku (via L4D411), writer Chet Faliszek confirms that the upcoming DLC will hit PC and console versions of the co-op zombiefest at the same time.
For Xbox 360 owners still waiting for their Team Fortress 2 DLC, this is welcome news. But as usual, the question is when.
If it wasn't the holidays and people weren't taking all these vacations here at Valve, you'd have seen that announcement already. We should be announcing that before Christmas - what the DLC is. The holidays aren't so much delaying it.. the press guys.. Doug has been taking some time. We'll have an announcement shortly, I don't know exactly when. We've got the DLC coming. We're going to do the 360 at the same time as the PC, and then we also have on the PC side the SDK coming out.
Forget the DLC -- we haven't even gotten the official announcement yet. But hey, everyone deserves a vacation once in a while, right?
While Faliszek's lips were mostly sealed as to the type of experience we can expect, it's a fairly safe bet that it will contain more campaign scenarios. When asked about the potential movie creator mode for L4D, he replied: "I think right now on the forefront of what we want to do is just deliver more content you can play at this point, and so that'll be the first out. After that, I hate to speculate on what will be coming down the pipe."
Not incredibly promising for machinima fans -- but with Valve's rabid Half-Life modding community and a free L4D software development kit in the offing, it probably won't be that long before an entreprenueuring individual creates their own movie maker.
