While we all await news on the future of Free Radical, new hope has presented itself, according to ReSolve, the firm investigating the studio since it was placed in administration last week.
Speaking with Edge-Online, ReSolve’s Cameron Gunn spoke about the status of the investigation, and whether or not they had found/concluded anything.
Turns out that the two games Free Radical were working on (TimeSplitters 4 and possibly a Star Wars Battlefront title) have been garnering some interest from publishers. Of course, they didn’t get any interest when Free Radical tried to get a publisher on board for TimeSplitters 4, but now that the published can own the IP…
“We are very confident that we will achieve a sale if we decide to market the business,” says Gunn,” it’s a testament to the employees and the regard of the company that a significant interest has already been shown.” When contacted, a spokesman for ReSolve refused to reveal (or hint with emoticon winks) what companies may be interested in purchasing the drowning developer. The good news, though, is that should they be purchased, the Free Radical employees would have their jobs back.
Except for the ones that already left to go elsewhere—like founders Steve Ellis and David Doak—that is.
