It’s Christmas time, so that means plenty of holiday-themed events and releases for games, most prominently online titles.
Sony Online Entertainment is kicking it up a notch this year—or as they say, “decking the virtual halls”—with in-game activities and events in most of their titles.
In EverQuest II, Frostfell, the celebration of kinship and giving, has once again arrived in Norrath from December 11 through January 5. Players can visit the Frostfell Wonderland Village via the Magic Closets in Qeynos Harbor, West Freeport, Haven, Kelethin, NEriak, and Gorowyn. They’ll also be able to gather presents to craft new Frostfell goodies to add to their collections, and will receive a daily present from Santa Glug.
In EverQuest (that’s right, it’s still going), players aren’t so lucky as Frostfell has been ruined by thieves. It’s up to players to track down the present-stealing monsters and return the missing presents. That’s not all that has been stolen, though; an ice goblin named Freezkorr has captured Santug Claugg!
In a galaxy far, far away, Wookiee Life Day returns (yes, the one from the Holiday Special) replete with new events, items, and activities. The festivities begin December 16, and conclude on January 13. Players can enjoy new quests, pets and items inspired directly by the Star Wars Holiday Special (I know, I know) including a tree house decoration and a painting of Chewbacca’s family.
Vanguard players miss out on most of the fun, as they’ll get the Festival of Gloriann complete with towering trees adorned with lights, and an over-the-rooftops tour of Telon to see the trees while riding on Randolph, the flying reindeer mount.
Finally, those still playing The Matrix Online will experience falling show, and special holiday vendors selling gifts such as formal shoes and winter coats for men, and formal skirts and winter shirts for women. If you’re skilled enough to defeat the giant Snow Simulacra, you’ll be rewarded with additional holiday-themed clothing.
If you want some more information on the events (or some pictures), just check out the official site for each of the games.
