That's right folks. Just a few days after celebrating its first birthday, The independent gaming gem Aquaria has been updated to version 1.1.1. The most prominent new feature is the native support for widescreen resolutions, but the game sees a host of other improvements like extra graphics, optimisations, GUI streamlining and other functional or simply cosmetic updates. In celebration of all that, the price has also been reduced to a mere $19.99 USD!
In case you haven't heard of the game before, I'll have you know that's it's one of the finest metroidvania-style video games ever created. The atmosphere, the beautiful 2D visuals, the excellent music, professional voiceover and smooth, fluid, mouse-based controls, combine in full effect to form a game that doesn't betray its low-budget nature in any way. I'm certain that Konami and Igarashi would have been extremely proud of this creation, had it been their own. It is such a complete experience, that even a level editor is included and fans have been creating brand-new campaigns, while Mac users aren't left out in the cold as a compatible release has been available.
If you hesitated before, this update and price reduction should be enough to make the jump. Go on.

Bare in mind it starts off slowly. You get actual attacks soon after. Think of it like Alucard losing all of his weapons near the beginning of SOTN. Sort of. Only not really. Just get it

Does it fix the issue of the screensaver starting while using a gamepad to play the game? That was one annoying bug I found with the demo.

No clue, I use mouse-only as it's the most fluid setup. Though, I'm curious, how is the spell-singing handled with a gamepad anyway? I can't imagine how that works without having the mouse to move the cursor around the proper icons.

If I recall correctly, if you're using a 360 controller (or a controller like the 360 like the Logitech ChillStream I own), you use the right analog stick for spell-singing. Dunno if it's handled for controllers without a second analog stick.
