We don't usually include Ghostbusters Fans on our list of daily websites to track, but starting today that just might change. BB Gadgets pointed us to a massive cache of restored Ecto-1 pictures, and now the fansite claims to have the game's release date.
The first post shows off an incredible 277 pictures of the restored Cadillac, complete with Ecto-1 license plates, oscilloscopes and white-walled tires. Supposedly an awesome Vivendi marketing ploy to promote the upcoming Ghostbusters videogame, its first stop was Best Buy's Minnesota headquarters, where, according to Ghostbusters Fans, Vivendi was meeting with Best Buy executives to agree on the game's retail plans.
The supposed fruits of those labors were the topic of post number two:
Sony and Vivendi Games are both aiming for the same release date of Ghostbusters: The Video Game, and the new Ghostbusters Blu-Ray DVD. Both are hoping to be released on October 21st, 2008.. while neither is set in stone, both are likely to be released on the same day. Vivendi is working on a Best Buy Exclusive promotion, as well as promotions with Target and GameStop.
Sony and Vivendi are also teaming up for a DVD Cash Promotion. All copies of the Vivendi Ghostbusters: The Video Game for XBox 360, PS2, & Wii will come with a DVD cash credit good towards the purchase of the Ghostbusters Collectors Edition DVD (while supplies last).
When reached for comment, Vivendi could neither confirm nor deny these reports -- but we believe the pictures are quite convincing all by themselves.
