Live in Europe? Own an Xbox 360? If you answered yes to both, then this weekend (November 28-November 30) Xbox LIVE is on the house! Xbox LIVE Xtival ’08 kicks off today, granting European Xbox 360 owners 72 hours of Gold enabled LIVE, as well as exclusive content, competitions, and promotions.
Last year’s Xtival ’07 was “a big success” according to MS, and this year chances are they’re hoping it will be even bigger. (You know, to help appease European players and remind them that they get some unique XBL content, too.)
While free Xbox LIVE Gold is a nice bonus, what’s in it for those already faithful subscribers? Honestly, I have no idea. There are still contests to enter -- including the highly anticipated avatar look-a-like contest -- and a promise of “some great content from 2009’s must-see movie Watchmen,” so I suppose it isn’t a total waste. I can’t help but feel that Europeans would prefer more sales than meaningless virtual conventions, though.
