Realtime Worlds, the developer best known for its surprise hit on the Xbox 360 Crackdown, has officially confirmed that the company has received $50 million in Series B funding.

The Scottish developer has also been working on the MMO APB, a massive version of cops and robbers, and its likely that this influx of capital will help the company streamline development. According to CEO David Jones:

“Since our founding, we have been fortunate to have some of the gaming industry’s top creative talent crafting amazing, groundbreaking interactive entertainment products. With this new infusion of capital, Realtime Worlds is poised to deliver new original experiences to gamers around the globe and to push the boundaries of online gaming,” he added.

I don't know if I'd call Crackdown groundbreaking, but it sure was damn fun to play, and I'm looking forward to seeing Realtime Worlds' vision writ large across a MMO landscape.
