Capcom Announces New Ace Attorney Spinoff Starring Edgeworth

News

GameCyte has absolutely no objection to the news that Capcom is planning the release of an Ace Attorney Spinoff game. The title will put players in the role of Miles Edgeworth, prosecutor and rival from the original Phoenix Wright storyline. The game, "Gyakuten Kenji," isn't even out in Japan yet, so there's no word or speculation as to whether we'll see it released here, but we better. There is a dire shortage of game protagonists who wear a cravat.

The gameplay looks to have changed in the new title as well; whereas the Ace Attorney series is split between first-person point-and-click exploration and the series' hallmark courtroom scenes, the new game (Perfect Prosecutor? Ace Antagonist? Weekend at Edgeworth's?) looks to have you guiding a third-person avatar through various crime scenes, wandering the scenery in search of damning evidence. One has to assume there will still be extremely loud declarations in front of streaking lines.

Check out scans from Famitsu over at DS Fanboy for screens.
