In May, Mortal Kombat series creator Ed Boon gave gamers some good news -- contrary to popular opinion, a partnership with DC Comics on the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe would not automatically forbid fatalities. "My intention," he said, "is that we want to push the envelope of a T-rated game as far as we can without being an M-rated game."
Kotaku reports that Boon and co. have recently discovered just how far that envelope can be pushed. Joker's fabulous fakeout with the trick gun? There's no visible headshot. Similarly, forehead fan impalement is also a no-no. Boon told Kotaku that the game has been submitted to ESRB upwards of three times now, and that they've had to scale back a variety of content.
Hopefully they're nearly done cutting, as we're only a few weeks away from a planned Nov. 16th release... but even if not, I suppose heads aren't exactly going to roll. At least, not on screen.
