Rumor

As long-time GameCyte readers might recall, the demise of the Electronic Entertainment Expo has nothing to do with Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo or Electronic Arts; it is, in fact, entirely attributable to our own Mr. Henning, who ruined the event for all of you by cheating the system in 2003, 2004 and 2005. But today, it seems that the Entertainment Software Association has seen fit to pardon Mr. Henning's despicable act.

According to a report out of G4 yesterday evening, the troubled Electronic Entertainment Expo will indeed return to the LA Convention Center in 2009, sporting an earlier date (June 2-4) and dramatically increased attendance. G4 reports that attendance may "explode into the tens of thousands," due to the elimination of the rigorous vetting process that was designed expressly to keep Jesse out.

What is still uncertain is whether those tens of thousands will include readers like you. Newsweek's N'Gai Croal cites anonymous sources who claim it will -- and that like the popular Tokyo Game Show, the event will include a full two days (June 5-6) set aside for public attendance.

However, given that the same source claims the ESA is looking to cap attendence at 40,000 persons (far less than in previous non-restrictive years when attendees were supposedly all game industry professionals) and Newsweek itself is now uncertain of the source's testimony, we're calling public attendance a rumor for now.

An ESA representative confirmed to GameCyte that there will be an E3 2009, but was unable to provide further details at the present time.
