I first read about this a couple weeks ago, but I thought it was high time to share it with our reading public: at the IT University of Copenhagen the Scrollbar group has a weekly bar event called Fredagbar, and they often create drinks based on video games. This is sublime to me.
Here's a taste of the sorts of drinks and successes they're having over there:
Mike Khamphokeo, Douglas Wilson, Martin Colith and Martin Woo created the Super Mario drinks, while Khamphokeo created the FF drink recipes on his own. Reportedly the Yoshi, Waltz on the Moon, Summoner Yuna and Aerith were the most popular drinks at their respective events. Also the Waltz on the Moon drink was in such demand at the Final Fantasy event that it was been added to the Fredagbar drink list for all events.
They have websites dedicated to the Mario-inspired and Final Fantasy-inspired drinks. And because I've become rather fond of tequila and tequila based shots, and I'm a huge Final Fantasy fanboy, my favorite is the Phoenix Down:
When you feel to get Reborn
- 1 cl Cointreau
- 1 cl Tequilla
- 1 cl Orange Juice
- ½ cl Grenadine
Directions:
Shake the first 3 ingredients. Then pour Grenadine into Shot.
I think I know how I'm celebrating my Friday night!
