According to the sharp-eyed folks over at IGN, LucasArts is planning to release a Wii and DS game based on the new animated movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars. And why not? Every Star Wars everything gets some sort of game. The Clone Wars, for those that didn't watch the surprisingly entertaining animated series on Cartoon Network, features an exaggerated comic art style and covers much of the fighting between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Frankly, the movie, with its 3D take on the art style, doesn't really excite me. Part of the appeal of the animated series was fleshing out the prequels before the final chapter, and now that we know that the prequels end with a very emo scream of "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" I'm really less interested in Anakin.
But who knows, maybe these games will be interesting.
IGN found the game advertisement in the back of the instruction booklet for LEGO Indiana Jones, and it suggests that those intrigued by the ad mosey over to clonewarsgame.com. Currently, however, that is simply a redirect to starwars.com. I am sure there will be lightsaber waggling aplenty on the Wii version, and no doubt the DS version will feature some insidious use of drawing as a method of combat. C'mon, LucasArts, just give us The Force Unleashed already!
