Though early December brought the news that Activision's next "James Bond" title would release in 2009, Activision Blizzard CFO Thomas Tippl revealed in a conference call today that the Bizzare Creations-developed game has been pushed back to calendar year 2010.
Why? Tippl said the delay was to avoid competition with the next "Call of Duty."
Later in the call, Activision Publising CEO Mike Griffith explained that they weren't merely talking about competition at retail. After tasking Treyarch to develop both "Call of Duty: World at War" and "James Bond: Quantum of Solace" in 2008, Griffith explained that "Bond" wasn't as polished as the company might have liked.
This time, Activision will stagger the releases of 'Bond' and their new mystery racing title accordingly to allow their developer, Bizzare Creations, ample time to finish both.
