Nearly two weeks ago on Jan. 11, Jason Montes and estranged wife Serena were found fatally wounded at their home in North Concord. Police pronounced Jason dead at the scene, and on evidence including a tip from one of Jason's friends, classified the case as a murder-suicide.
The Contra-Costa Times reported:
Police went to a home in the 2200 block of Acacia Drive, off Port Chicago Highway in North Concord, about 5:30 p.m., when they found Jason Montes, 33, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and his wife, Serena Michelle Montes, 25, gravely injured from a gunshot wound. She died at a hospital that evening, police said.
Investigators said Jason Montes had called a friend in Sacramento, his hometown, saying he just shot his wife and was going to commit suicide. The friend called Sacramento County authorities, who informed Concord police.
Today, Edge Online reports that Jason Montes was also a former games journalist with over a decade of experience in the industry. He wrote for outlets including Ultra Game Players, IGN, the Official PlayStation Magazine and Prima Games. Most recently, he served as marketing manager for Hudson Entertainment.
Montes had filed for bankruptcy protection earlier in the year, and a follow-up report indicates that he had threatened suicide and received treatment for depression in prior months.

Our yellow brugmania got hit by a freeze earlier this month and defoliated. So we're not getting any flowers on that plant. Right now, I am only seeing pink in our garden, in the form of camellias, as we are in the midst of winter in the USA. But I hope to see daffodils blooming in about a month.
