Rumor

the-axe

Given the hectic nature of CES 2009, we weren't able to give you the whole story about Sega's new mobile games initiative two weeks ago. We could only that if Sega gets what they're after, you can expect what amounts to a Virtual Console filled with emulated Sega Genesis games on your iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile or even Blackberry in the not-too-distant future.

But perhaps that's just as well, because sources close to Sega of America are reporting that their San Francisco studio -- primarily responsible for that mobile initiative -- just lost up to thirty employees.

First reported by IGN this morning, GameCyte verified the same through our own source, and Gamasutra claims to have seen a Facebook update wishing affected employees the best of luck.

There has been no official confirmation at this time.
