Gamerscore Blog, Microsoft's official blog for Xbox and Games for Windows, is shutting down, opting to "focus [their] community outreach through Xbox.com and through the Xbox dashboard." The blog, written by members of Microsoft Games Global Marketing team, has provided coverage of community events, press releases and behind-the-scenes information since 2005.
Could the reason for the sudden closure be redundancy of coverage? Given the wealth of other, more specialized official Xbox channels, it seems likely; and Gamerscore Blog appears to acknowledge the redundancy by providing a handy list of these specialized channels:
