Sega, Marvelous Entertainment Teaser Sites Count Down to Japanese Announcements

Wed, Jan 14, 2009

News

marvelous-triforce-clockCyberConnect2 is a reputable Japanese developer, but one of surprisingly limited scope. That's why it will be rather interesting to see if their new teaser website reveals an original IP, when its countdown timer expires this Friday.

But CyberConnect2 isn't the only Japanese company counting down. Sega is currently taunting fans of Phantasy Star Universe producer Takao Miyoshi with a blue and yellow mushroom... and Marvelous Entertainment is displaying a lovely clock that looks an awful lot like the "Legend of Zelda" Triforce.

While we can't place the clock -- save to note that in Japan, the three-triangle symbol represents more than just the quest of an elfin boy -- it intriguingly counts exactly twenty-nine seconds before rewinding backwards to the beginning, and at its current speed, the countdown should expire around midnight PST, next Friday, January 23rd.

Additionally, the flash animation file is named "prepre_watch.swf." Any ideas?

Sega seems to provide a few more hints. Clicking on the red letter 'C' in 'produce' takes you to the website for Sega's DS penmanship training game "U-Can"; and mousing over the 'T' in 'Takao' will cause it to turn orange and take you to Wii rhythm game "Let's Tap," which arrived in Japan mid-December. Similarly, the 'c' in 'coming' turns green and sends you to "Let's Catch."

The website is pole.sega.jp, the mushroom vibrates on mouse-over, and the countdown ends Friday the 23rd at 6PM PST.

Happy hunting!
