Eidos is disappointed with "Tomb Raider: Underworld's" performance, and the recent layoffs of as many as 30 Crystal Dynamics employees is testament to that. That's not all Eidos is doing to restart their flagship franchise, though.
The company is looking to reboot and redesign the series the same way "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Begins" restarted Batman, said Robert Brent, chief financial officer in a "Times Online" story about gaming's most popular female.
"We need to look at everything as we develop the next game," He said. "Look at how Batman changed successfully, from the rather sad character of the Michael Keaton era to the noir style of 'The Dark Knight.'"
Ignoring the noir-styled "Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness" -- a back-to-basics attempt that nonetheless was awful -- Brent has a point: The series does need to evolve. While the idea of a reboot in the vein of Batman makes me a giddy fan, the brief mention of the efforts to make Lara more "female-friendly" is a bit unsettling. I don't know about you, but I know plenty of female gamers who love Lara as is. Is she an unrealistic portrayal of the average woman? Sure. But what male hero in an action game is a realistic portrayal of the average male? I don't remember Marcus Fenix sporting a beer belly, or hurting his back when he dragged an injured Dom to cover.

Doest matter what she looks like, the last game took just 6 hrs 2 complete and that Aint good enough, maybe she learns new skills by doing certain things or picks up new stuff ala crystals in the force unleashed

I think Tomb Raider really needs a Batman-Begins-ification. Reset the story, show how Lara came to be and give us a story arch about her that is grounded a little more in reality with less magic, monsters and dinosaurs. The stuff that they started to do with Tomb Raider: Legend was good, but could be better. And put some damn clothes on!

I think there should be another game! There are a few faults with the newer games for example the games are too short and too easy to figure out! The player probably gets bored of the game after a week or two. I know I did. Legend was a good game but too short and easy!!! I think they should remake Tomb raider II! In my opinion Tomb raider II was the best one yet! Remake it but dont change the story or music! Just put in better graphics but keep the game as long as it is now!!! As I have told you I love Tomb raider II and I would love to play it with better graphics! If they remake it imagine Venice and Temple of Xian! Eww the spider cave in temple of Xian! That would be scary! Oh and Barkang monistary!
Oh and you dont have to change Lara that much just please please please decreace the size of her boobs! They are like two watermelons stuffed in a tanktop! I am a girl and Lara doesnt bother me or a lot of my friends who play the games who are also girls!
