The winners of the “Best of CES” awards are in, and this year the gaming category once again belongs to Nyko, whose Wand remote for the Wii took home the prize.
Nyko’s Wand is the first third-party Wii remote controller, and it won the award largely due to its new “Trans-Port” technology. Thanks to a special input, when specific external decides are attached to the Wand, they’ll be able to re-map the original functions of the Wiimote itself. For example, attach Nyko’s pistol grip on the wand, and you’ll be able to shoot by pressing an actual trigger (as in a gun trigger) rather than the B trigger on the remote itself.
You can check out Jesse’s impressions of the Wand in his Nyko coverage from this year’s CES. The Wand will hit stores this April, but as of now no price has been announced.
