When they released the system requirements, THQ said to keep an eye open Thursday for "Dawn of War 2" beta news. Well, it’s Thursday, and the news is here. Starting January 21, the Dawn of War 2 multiplayer beta will release exclusively on Steam to owners of "Dawn of War: Soulstorm". On January 28, the beta will release to the general public, regardless of whether or not they own "Soulstorm" on Steam.
The beta will feature all four playable races, five different multiplayer maps, and Microsoft’s Games for Windows LIVE TrueSkill Matchmaking.
No word yet on when the beta will come to an end, but since the game is scheduled for release on February 23, I’d assume we have at least until the week before then. If anyone gets the beta and is up for some virtual "Dawn of War" beatdowns, feel free to shoot me an email and we can exchange Steam tags.
