$700 Crysis Warhead PC Specs Revealed

Tue, Sep 9, 2008

Analysis, News

With one week left before the game's launch, the specs for the official $700 Crysis Warhead PC have finally arrived, and I'll be damned -- it looks like you might actually get your money's worth.

Sporting a pretty decent case, speedy processor, an excellent mid-range NVIDIA 9800 GT video card and 2GB of DDR2 800MHz RAM, the Ultra Optimized PC offers bang-for-the-buck you can't find at Dell, HP or Gateway, let alone the pricey enthusiast PC outlets. Mind you, it's still not quite in line with the kind of gaming machine you could build from scratch -- just peep my Newegg cart below for some simple upgrades -- but it's as close as I've ever seen.

On the plus side, the official machine apparently figured prominently in the game's development: on his personal blog, journalist Chris Remo reports that "the Warhead PC" was used as a constant benchmark for the game's optimization.

While we're a little worried the offical box may not have everything you need out of the starting gate (for one, Warhead players will need Windows, and we don't see any mention of an OS in the list above), the machine isn't available quite yet anyhow, and we've sent requests for clarification to Ultra representatives.

Thanks to Shacknews for the link.

UPDATE: Ultra has confirmed that the PC will ship with Windows XP Professional, and will arrive fully tested, benchmarked and burned in. Full story here.

I'm waiting to see the final specs on this too, it could end up being a pretty good deal if all you need is a monitor.

@LC: We don't have the exact specs, but Ultra just confirmed that indeed, all you need is a monitor. And a copy of the game.

No worries. I won't spam it let alone use it. :3

Man, I wish I knew what the hell all that ment. I don't even think my laptop is loaded with enough memory or RAM to play Spore let alone Crysis. That's why dummies like me stick to the PS3 and 360...no major upgrades except for the occasional update and hard drive upgrade.

its good for the people who cant build it them selfs but you can still build it for less :)
