When I put together the terribly lazy GTA4 mockup you see at left, I had no idea if the freshly-announced PC port would actually be a part of Microsoft’s Games for Windows initiative.
But taking a quick look at Rockstar’s freshly updated Grand Theft Auto IV website, I noticed a interesting little logo — that of Games for Windows - LIVE.
Now the question isn’t whether or not Rockstar will be publishing the title under Redmond’s label or no; the question is, what will the free LIVE service bring to the experience?
For obvious reasons, Xbox players can’t engage in rocket launcher duels with their PS3 counterparts — but might GTA allow for cross-platform play between 360 and PC?
Microsoft bargained for exclusive GTA IV downloadable content, now delayed until well after this port’s November release — might we see it on PC as well?
If nothing else, PC achievements are now all but guaranteed.
