Ratchet & Clank are back, as reported by GameSpot, and will be making their DLC debut on the PlayStation Network in just a few weeks. Insomniac Games confirmed the date to GameSpot during their On the Spot program, informing us all that the shorter-and-cheaper-than-usual R&C installment, subtitled “Quest for Booty,” would become available on August 21st for $14.99. I had a chance to play around with R&C:Q4B at E3, and it plays just like one ought to expect, with full platforming controls and gadgety goodness.
Now, Insomniac has stated that the current plan is not to take this short R&C game and make it an episodic series, though they may give it some thought if this first one goes well. A shorter-than-usual R&C game at a low price pretty much screams “episodic,” though, doesn’t it? If we dare to hope that this will eventually be the case, then this is really looking like one hell of a summer for episodic gaming. Between the lombax and his robot, some screwed-up fairy tales, Victorian-era pottymouthed investigators, and (we hope, eventually) a sardonic wrestleman, gamers have plenty of choice for their short, sweet gaming fix.
So, go get Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty, so we can have more games like it.

They’re definitely working on it. Between the new R&C, Stardust, and the latter PixelJunks, PSN is looking pretty attractive lately.
