Nintendo’s online offerings continue to to improve with today’s announcement of the new Wii Digital Camera Print Channel. Starting today, Japanese Wii owners can create prints, photo albums and business cards using pictures from SD memory card, and — through a new partnership with Fujifilm — have physical copies delivered directly to their home.

IGN reports:

With the new channel installed, Wii owners will be able to select digital pictures to be printed and delivered at a cost of 30 yen per print. The channel also assists in creating a Wii Photo Book, a special photo album that’s available in multiple sizes, with costs ranging from 1,575 yen to 2,480 yen.

Even more closely related to the Wii is the channel’s Wii Business Card service. Users select one of six templates featuring Nintendo characters, add either a real life photograph or a Mii, and finalize their cards with the requisite details, like address, phone number, or even Wii friend code. Printing costs run 500 yen for a set of 30 cards.

Nintendo reportedly has worldwide plans for the channel, but we don’t have so much as a ballpark estimate as for when to expect it on this side of the pond.

The original Japanese press release is accompanied by a variety of pictures; you can watch a brief advertisement video of the channel in action, and if you’ve got a decent grasp of Japanese, a complete walkthrough, Q&A, troubleshooting and specifications (I’m rusty, but I’m pretty sure I saw support for 25+ megapixel images) await you in the official PDF manual.
