News, Rumor

My autographed copy of Surfin’ the Highway — the original print, mind you — should confirm my position as a fan of all things Sam & Max. This love extends quite liberally onto the episodic Sam & Max games from Telltale Games, so I consider it to be a Very Good Thing™ when news comes along that more folks may get an opportunity to play them. Spotted over at Joystiq, the folks at TheBBPS.com had a nice little chat with Telltale’s Marketing Coordinator, Emily Morganti, who revealed a few things about the future of everyone’s favorite canine/lagomorph duo.

Morganti confirmed, first of all, that Sam & Max are returning for a third season, due to arrive “in early 2009.” She also spoke briefly about bringing Sam & Max to the Wii, which led to this momentary discussion of other cross-platform development:

When last we spoke with you in late 2006, you had said there was some talk of bringing Sam & Max to Xbox Live Arcade. Is there a possibility we’ll still see that?

We’d still like to do it. Our tools currently allow us to develop for PC, Xbox 360, and Wii. So many people had been asking for Sam & Max to come to Wii that it seemed the obvious place to start, but we’re not ruling out other platforms in the future. We’re interested in PlayStation, also… we want our games to be everywhere!

Morganti also had a few words to say about Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People, Telltale’s newest series, which is set to launch in June. For more on SBCG4AP, check out our hands-on preview, and be sure to catch our video interview with Telltale’s Brett Tosti about the game’s development.
