Got a demo reel and a pocketful of dreams? Now’s your chance to attend a game industry trade show and meet recruiters, free of charge. The Nordic Game Conference, coming to the frozen North on May 14th and 15th, is offering free admission on its second day to all students and creative/IT professionals. The 15th will see the conference’s Career Expo & Recruitment Day, including a “Speed Dating for Games” event, where actively recruiting developers will be standing by to meet with fresh talent. This year’s conference has a greater emphasis on workshops and panels rather than presentations, giving the expo a “deeper, more developer-oriented experience.” Of course, GameCyte’s prime expo advice still stands: If Steve Ballmer starts chanting “developers” at any time, evacuate immediately to a safe 75-yard radius.
Plenty of top developers and publishers will be on hand for the conference, including Epic, Sierra, Nexon, CryTek, Sony, CCP, and more. GameDaily’s recent list of “Things Every Gamer Should Do Before They Die” cites attending a press conference as vital to your bucket list, and this one’s free. All you have to do is get to Sweden. You can get to Sweden, right? It’s totally on your way to work anyway, right? The conference’s location is in no way crushing your hopes and dreams, right?
