Virtual Console Makes Us Jealous of the French

Europe getting better game releases on Virtual Console than us Yankees? Has the world gone mad? Take a look at the latest VC game release for North America. Yoshi’s Cookie and Bases Loaded? Sure, those are nice. I’m a sucker for a good puzzler, and I have fond memories of beaning every single batter in Bases Loaded in hopes of triggering the infamous “charging the mound” cutscene. Nothing to complain about.

Now take a look at the latest releases for Europe. Wh…what?! California Games? Impossible Mission?!! Why the hell don’t we get Impossible Mission?! Do you know how much of my childhood I spent staying a while, and subsequently staying forever? This whole “Europe Only” rollout for Commodore 64 titles on VC does not sit well on this side of the pond.

In case you didn’t know, they released Impossible Mission for the DS a while back. I think the mission is slightly more possible now that they’ve gotten rid of the original C64 bug that made you die any time a robot touched any wall in the room, but it still totally holds up.
